Ghost Ogre and Snow Rabbit Vs Continuous Effects
Ghost Ogre & Snow Rabbit – #SDAZ-EN017
When a monster on the field activates its effect, or when a Spell/Trap that is already face-up on the field activates its effect (Quick Effect): You can send this card from your hand or field to the GY; destroy that card on the field. You can only use this effect of "Ghost Ogre & Snow Rabbit" once per turn.

Hello Pojo Fans,
Ghost Ogre & Snow Rabbit is the Throwback Thursday choice and one of the ghost girl hand traps that regained its tremendous playability this year…I was always playing her in my decks, even with Veiler and Ash around.
Doesn't negate, but does destroy, and that is gaining favor despite its lack of negation. Effect on the field gets activated via a monster or a Spell/Trap already on the field (Field, Continuous, etc), Ghost Ogre trades herself with it. Simple, effective, she's also a Tuner and a Level 3 Psychic, so there is some Psychic support like E-Teleport that could also be used with her, but lets be honest, you are playing her to trade with something, like if a boss monster is attempting to negate something of yours and you chain Ghost Ogre.
Easy to use, easy to come by because of reprints: Pick your spot to trade Ghost Ogre with something big and while on paper it's a 1-for-1 it should feel like a +1 for you…even if they get an effect off.

Throwback Thursday this week brings us to a card that's now searchable off a card we'll look at to end the week off, and the first of the Ghost Girls at that: Ghost Ogre & Snow Rabbit.
Ghost Ogre is a Level 3 LIGHT Psychic Tuner with 0 ATK and 1800 DEF. Stats don't matter that much, but 1800 DEF is nice, LIGHT is great, and Level 3 Psychics are always good to have, especially on a Tuner. I'll never get why Ghost Ogre is Psychic while the other Ghost Girls are Zombies, but I digress. The lone effect of this card triggers in the hand or field when a monster on the field activates its effect, or when a Spell/Trap that's already face-up on the field activates its effect, letting you send this card to the graveyard to destroy that card. While it doesn't negate, cause that might be insane otherwise, you at least remove a problem card from the opponent. Plus, it can stop effects of cards that need to remain on the field to properly resolve like Gigantic Spright and any Field Spell or Continuous Spell/Trap. Other select monsters need to be on the field to properly resolve as well besides Gigantic Spright, that's just the most common example right now. Destruction effects are never bad to have, and this always serves a niche from time to time. Hard once per turn here like on every other Ghost Girl, which is fine. I'd always have Ghost Ogre on hand if I was playing the game cause you never know when it will pop up in usefulness.

Art: 3.5/5 for the original and 4.5/5 for the alternate art, even though I always use the original artwork in my Decks, the alternate artwork is far less bland.

Throwback Thursday brings us a Hand Trap, in the form of Ghost Ogre & Snow Rabbit. Level 3, Light/Psychic, bonus of being a Tuner, with irrelevant stats at 0/1000 respectively. A Quick Effect lets you send this from your Hand to the Grave when a Monster Effect or the Effect of a face-up Magic/Trap activates to destroy that card. Said Effect is once per Turn. As far as this line (and Hand Traps in general) this one is rather middle of the pack. In this line alone, there are certainly more powerful ones, but a Quick destruction Effect isn't a bad thing. She may not be the first choice, but she's still a welcome one in the group.

Art: This is an alternate art, and she looks cuter and more mischievous in this sitting pose, as opposed to the standing up straight. Very pretty and haunting like most of this family of cards. 4.5/5

Ghost Ogre & Snow Rabbit might seem a little weird for this week's Throwback Thursday, but it'll make perfect sense when you see tomorrow's card. Ghost Ogre is a level 3 LIGHT Psychic Tuner monster, and the first of the infamous "ghost girl" mini-archetype composed entirely of hand traps. As always, being a level 3 Psychic monster is fantastic since you can access it with Emergency Teleport, and you can even search it with a certain level 8 Synchro monster we'll cover very shortly. Like the other ghost girls, it has 0 attack, but it does have a decent 1800 defense in a jam.
Ghost Ogre's sole effect is a hard once per turn Quick effect and can only be triggered when your opponent activates a monster effect or the effect of an existing Spell or Trap (think Continuous Spells and Traps and Field Spells). By discarding or tributing Ghost Ogre to the Graveyard, you can destroy that card, though note that it won't negate the effect in most scenarios. Ghost Ogre is considered format-dependent for this reason; against decks with highly versatile combo lines, Ghost Ogre probably won't do much, but against decks that need key monsters to stay on the board, Ghost Ogre can be incredibly deadly. Among the ghost girls, I rank Ghost Ogre as the second strongest. It did see a lot of use in the OCG recently because it is an excellent hand trap against Spright decks, due to Gigantic Spright's activation condition. In the TCG, Ghost Ogre hasn't seen as much of a resurgence, but maybe it will be relevant again in due time. Though, it's still a good card overall as a generic hand trap if you find yourself with free space.
Advanced: 4/5
Art: 4/5 (Regular) She looks like she'll kill me and use my bones as Legos, which makes sense, since she's an ogre after all.
4.25/5 (Alternate) I like that this art is more dynamic, makes Ghost Ogre look more combat-oriented than she really is.
